How many gigabytes can you carry in your pocket?
Strange question? It would have been just a few years ago, but not today. Only a few years ago transporting gigs of data would, at the least, require an external hard drive, but those days are past. Today’s memory sticks can -quite literally- hold gigs and gigs of data, with the latest model (still in beta as this is written) holding a terabyte.
The Evolution of the Memory Card
Introduced in 1995 as smart media cards holding (what now seems insignificant) 128 Megs, these types of cards were very thin and prone to damage and data loss.
Most manufactures quickly changed to the SD (SecureDigital) cards with Fujifilm and Olympus going in a different direction, creating the xD-Picture card in 2002. While these cards held significantly more data (up to 8 Gigs) they never caught on and are fairly expensive in today’s market.
The SD card, launched in 1999 has become the industry standard, used in cameras, Smartphone’s, PDAs DSLRs and MP3 players. Memory cards continue to evolve becoming faster and able to hold more data.
The Problem – Memory Card Data Corruption
Memory Card Recovery Liverpool has experience with and successfully recovered data from all formats mentioned. The consumer (probably the person reading this) likely doesn’t overly care about the history or brand, only the fact they’re having issues accessing their data. That data might be a -once in a lifetime- photo, a unique music file or the video from your son or daughter’s graduation, in almost every instance that treasured data can be recovered.
One customer told us..
“It was like a feeling of dread came over me, this was my best friend’s wedding and he’d asked if I’d photograph the event. Quickly agreeing (I’m a fledging professional) I took some classic shots and was feeling great, until I tried to off-load the pictures and it said ‘no images found’. My heart dropped like a stone, what was I going to tell my buddy.”
We’re happy to say we performed memory card recovery and his project (and friend’s wedding pictures) was successfully recovered. It’s not important the type of card you use, Secure Digital/SD, Compact Flash/CF or any other type, unless the memory card is catastrophically damaged, your data can be recovered. At Memory Card Recovery Liverpool, we use the latest and most advanced tools, techniques and software, couple that with a tech squad having over 30+ of experience and your data is in good hands.

Ideally you’ll never have any memory card issues; here are a few helpful tips to ensure you never do.
- Since each device is different, take a moment to format your memory card in the device in which it will be used.
- Consider using multiple smaller memory cards, rather than recording the entire event on one large card.
- Never fill a memory card to capacity.
- Always eject your memory card properly; rushing things could cause data loss.
- Keep your cards in a safe and dust free environment.
- Buy NAME BRAND memory cards whenever possible.
- Keep your device batteries charged.
- Avoid switching devices with the same card.
